Celebrating Bridget

Bridget ZinnHello Friends and Family,

This is Barrett, Bridget’s husband & former covivant of sixteen years. Thank you all for sharing your kind thoughts and memories about Bridget. I wanted to share with you that we’re planning two events to celebrate Bridget. The first will be here in Portland, Oregon and the second will be in Madison, Wisconsin. Both of which Dick Zinn (Bridget’s dad) and I will be attending.

Celebration #1

Saturday, June 11, 2011
Place: Our home, 7817 N Wall Ave, Portland OR 97203
Time: 10 A.M. to 2 P.M. or later.
We’re planning on having coffee, juice, french pastries, fruit and chocolate cake/cupcakes. It will be drop in style from 10-2 or later. The event will be indoors and outdoors. So if it’s sunny bring a chair and if it’s rainy bring an umbrella or we’ll all just sit very close on the sofas. 😉

Celebration #2 Sunday, June 26th, 2011
Place: Madison, Wisconsin
Time and location: To be determined

We will update this event on this blog and on Bridget’s memorial page on Facebook.

Memorial Donations
Memorial donations can be made to the Friends of the Cooperative Children’s Book Center (CCBC). Bridget was a member of the Friends Board and the newsletter editor, so she had a very close association with the group. Bridget was a huge supporter of children’s literature for all ages and loved books filled with warm pockets of happiness. This organization changed her life.

Checks can be made out and sent to: Friends of the CCBC, Inc., Box 5189, Madison, WI 53705.
Donations are tax deductible.

As Bridget would say, “Love to you all,”

  6. I love seeing these pictures of Bridget. Your celebrations are going to be lovely. I’m sorry I’ll be at ALA during the Madison celebration. Thinking of you lots and sending love to you!

  7. I’ve followed Bridgett’s journey, and yours, from the first I heard of her diagnosis. Her posts brought a smile, and her spirit came through her writing and thoughts. You two were so good together. My thoughts are with you now, as you continue, as she would want you to.

  8. Hi Barrett,
I was fortunate to meet Bridget at the Portland Kidlit Conference. I’ve been following her blog since then, and have thought of you both over these past months. I am glad that Bridget had you in her life.

  9. Barrett, I’m so sorry that I’ll miss your gathering. My kids are dancing at the Newport Irish Festival that weekend. Do you remember when they came and danced for Bridget in your tiny living room? We will be thinking of you all weekend long–and also long after that.

  10. I wish I could be there 🙁 Im thinking about you! Hang in there Barrett! Im so sorry you are hurting and I love that you are celebrating her life. She had quite a sweet one.

  11. Bridget and I roomed together at the ’08 SCBWI conference in LA. Even in the short time I had to get to know her, I could see she was a pretty special person. I have been incredibly impressed and inspired over the past years following her blog. Her indomitable spirit and ability to take and make joy in life, even in the face of such incredible odds, serve as a lesson to us all. Barrett, we’ve never met, but sending you love and wishing you comfort and peace as you journey forward.

  12. Barrett, my heart goes out to you. It’s always terrible when a loved one dies, but Bridget was so wonderfully vibrant her absence must leave a particularly big, silent hole in your life. I’m so sorry for your loss.
